Elfriede Jelinek

music

I'm looking forward to reading some of her novels, and perhaps watching the movie based on "The Piano teacher."
Four hours later...
I just bought Thomas Friedman's The Lexus and the Olive Tree. I'm not quite ready for his newer (hardcover) work, The World is Flat, to which Charles Vest referred today at his lectures.

So far, I've watched The Piano Teacher, read Lust, and am soon to read Women As Lovers.

The Piano Teacher was an unnecessarily dark film. I like to think that people behave better, although I know they don't always.

Lust is likewise a cynical piece of poetry-as-novel. It would take many books like Lust to balance the oodles of romantic propaganda we wallow in daily.

Women As Lovers will be much like Lust...?
