Stopped by this little store near my house to buy (
a bag of pure) water
The owner also stocks greeting cards - birthday cards and such - remember those?
Remember the pure pleasure of the thick card paper and embossed pink flowers and sparkly lettering on the front of the card, to start with?
The preferably-not-icky poetry inside.
Cards were Hallmark or budget or something nice-and-in-between;
or (starting in the late nineties) sometimes afrocentric and handmade.
Real cards were just such a great idea, before e-cards, before no-cards.
I'll have to find an excuse to give a card again sometime.
###Three Sisters, novel #1
P.S. To everyone who loves me (yeah, you), thank you for loving me.
