With Gratitude to God for a Life well Spent

Notes:

1.
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

2.
Jesus: Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.

3.
Why do you seek the living among the dead?

From the Holy Bible: Hebrews 11Mark 5Luke 24

The Legend of Lady 'Ladunni
by Oluwatosin H. Otitoju

There was once a beautiful child named Oladunni. Tended lovingly in such towns as Ife, Ibadan, Ondo, and Owo, Ola's hair grew long and her limbs grew strong. She transformed into a Lagosian belle named Mama Tosin, my mother. She gained a dozen new relatives by marriage. Soon there was a second cute baby, named Kunmi. Then the twins arrived, making my mother Mama Ibeji. (There would later be a fifth child who would grow to rule his mother's heart, or at least her phone screen.)

The family of Mr. and Mrs. K.J. Otitoju lived in a dream-home, a cottage with a small farm and its own slice of waterfront. She was a kitchen-fabulous-superstar and soon the dashing duo of Kayode and Kemi Otitoju became famous for hosting wonderful parties.

At work, she was the affable and diligent Mrs. G.O.K. Otitoju. She learned to drive for her daily commute, bought a sewing-machine for evenings after work, and insisted on getting a washing machine for bulk laundry on the weekends. Through it all, she fed me well, and cared for me in every way, every day. One day we were stuck in stand-still traffic on Eko bridge, and she taught me this song - ỌMỌ L'AṢỌ.

My mother worked devotedly at everything she did - from her marketing and shipping professions to her social and family obligations. The Grace that God granted her, like the Grace to multi-task, made it possible.

She attended to her soul too, making the time to study the Holy Bible and keep learning new things. One day, her earthly body expired. Our faith tells us however that she is not dead. Legends never die.
